‘I’m pretty excited!’ Coronation Street’s Catherine Tyldesley launches singing career with two gigs in London and Manchester

CATHERINE Tyldesley is about to launch her singing career after lining up two headlining gigs in London and Manchester.
The Coronation Street star signed a record deal in June and although she is keeping coy about her future plans, she has always set the ball in motion.
The 32-year-old will perform at a gig at cabaret Brasserie Zedel in London on Saturday September 3rd and then at the Lowry in Manchester in December, both times with a swing band called Top Cats.
She announced both gigs on her Twitter page today and said she was “beyond excited”.
And speaking to The Cheshire magazine, she said: “I adore singing. I’ve just signed with a wonderful new music agent - Alex Fane. He really knows his stuff.”
“There’s lots of exciting things happening on the music front, too, at the moment. I can’t say too much but I’m pretty excited.”
The actress signed a recording deal with United Agents back in June and is set to release her debut album this autumn.
She is even hoping to record a duet with X Factor winner and her Corrie co-star Shayne Ward, who plays her on-screen boyfriend Aidan Connor.
Asource told the Sun Online Corrie bosses were 100 percent behind them.
They said: “The bosses are a bit more relaxed these days in letting artists go off for a few months here and there to do things like theatre and have a break from the daily toll of doing Corrie scenes.”
Shayne, who won the ITV show in 2005, sang at Catherine’s wedding when she married personal trainer Tom Pitfield with whom she has a one-year-old son called Alfie.
Shayne, 31, sang Butterfly Kisses by US singer Bob Carlisle, a special request from the blushing bride.
He told Hello! magazine: “Cath asked me to sing it for her only a few weeks ago. I’m so happy and honoured I was able to do it for her.”
Shayne and Catherine have already duetted – they took part in the Abba Christmas Party 2015, which was broadcast on ITV, and sang a version of the group’s hit song Take A Chance on Me.
