Harry Potter and the Royal Philharmonic! Live orchestra to accompany screening of The Philosopher’s Stone in the capital
The first ever movie in the franchise will be screened along with John Williams’s live score
AS the sequel continues to takes the West End stage by storm, London’s Royal Albert Hall is going right back to Harry Potter’s humble beginnings with a very special event.
The boy wizard will make a magical debut at the historical concert venue next spring when the very first movie in the franchise is screened 40ft high and in glorious high-definition.
But that’s not all – to accompany the movie, the world-renowned Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be playing John Williams’s iconic and Oscar-nominated score live on the stage.
The film will be shown for three performances only at the Royal Albert Hall before it heads off on a UK tour which will take in Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Glasgow.
The screenings are part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series that was launched by Warner Bros. in the US in June.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first book in author J.K. Rowlings’ series about the boy wizard.
The film version was released in 2001 and starred Daniel Radcliffe as Harry and Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
The film also stars Dame Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall, Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid, the late Alan Rickman as Professor Snape and the late Richard Harris as Dumbledore.

It was nominated for seven BAFTAs and three Oscars, including Best Original Score at the 74th Academy Awards.

Tickets for the Royal Albert Hall screenings, which takes place on the 12th and 13th of May and range from £28 to £74, go on sale this Friday at 9am .
