AFTER losing her place in the Spice Girls to Victoria Beckham because her voice was “too strong,” Mel Coloma is determined to top the charts 23 years later.
The NHS worker, who made it to the final stages of auditions for the girl group in 1993, revealed she’ll never give up on her dream during an appearance on This Morning.
Talking about her vow to succeed, Mel, 41, shared her high hopes with hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford during Tuesday's episode of the show.
The mum-of-two told the pair: “I’ve always wanted to sing.
“If I never make it… I’m still hopeful I will.
“I’ll always stay in music.”
Mel also revealed the details behind her initial audition during the interview.
She explained: “I was at college at the time and bought The Stage newspaper and saw the ad looking for a girl group.
“I went along and there were hundreds of girls.
“I remember Mel B – she stood out with her look – there was just something about her.”
When asked if any of the Spice Girls would recognise her now, Mel added: “I’m not sure, maybe. I got down to the last 8 girls…
"Then at the last audition is when I got told [I hadn’t made it].”

Mel previously revealed she missed out on securing a place in the group because her voice was "too strong."
She added: “In a different life I could have been married to a footballer, dressed in designer clothes and jetted all over the world.
"I had no idea then how close I’d come to being in the biggest girl group of all time.”
Far from the massive arenas where the Spice Girls have taken the stage, Mel sings at pubs and weddings in a band called The Decanters with her brother.
She's also sung on cruise ships with X Factor winner Sam Bailey.
