Adele says I hit 30, quit my marriage, lost 7st and got addicted to exercise – as she stuns on Vogue cover
ADELE last night revealed how her life fell apart when she hit 30 and admitted: “I f***ed up. It didn’t work.”
The singer, now 33, said she got divorced, became addicted to exercise and shed seven stone.
Opening up about her marriage break-up for the first time, saying: “It just wasn’t right for me any more.”
The singer, 33, admitted her split from charity boss Simon Konecki had taken a heavy toll on their son Angelo.
But the Londoner insisted: “I would have been miserable had I not put myself first.”
She revealed all about her relationship turmoil, going into therapy and her stunning weight loss in an interview and photoshoot with Vogue magazine.
In it, she officially confirmed she and sports mega-agent Rich Paul are an item.
And she revealed she finally made peace with her estranged father before he died of cancer.
Opening up about her divorce, Adele said her life fell apart as she turned 30, admitting: “I f***ed up. It didn’t work.”
ON HER WEIGHT LOSS
THE star told how she lost 7st after getting addicted to exercise.
Hitting the gym became an antidote to crippling anxiety — as she looked for hobbies to keep her away from her mobile phone.
Adele said: “Working out, I’d feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong.
“I was basically unemployed when I was doing it. And I do it with trainers. It’s not doable for a lot of people.” When she unveiled her striking new look in May 2020, rumours swirled about diets and abstinence regimes — which she firmly denies.
But Adele said: “I needed to get addicted to something to get my mind right. It could have been knitting.
“People are shocked because I didn’t share my ‘journey’. I couldn’t give a flying f***.
“I did it for myself and not anyone else.”
“It would always be like, ‘Where’s Adele? Oh, she’s working’, or, ‘Where’s Simon? He’s in England’. I’d trust him with my life.” In the weeks after the split, Adele got drunk in nightclubs while being protected by her bodyguards.
She began partying with a new circle of celebrity friends, including actress Jennifer Lawrence. They were pictured enjoying a boozy night out at a New York gay bar.
She said: “I thought I was being carefree, but I think there was an element of being careless. Then again, I have security guards coming out my ass, so nothing ever got out. I was falling out the back door of the bar rather than falling out of the front.
“Then I remember I woke up with the worst hangover. Hangxiety, I call it. ‘Who did I talk to? What did I do?’
“It was a month of me going crazy. I don’t really do that any more.”
As music insiders had predicted, Adele’s new album documents her life around the time of her marriage split.
The first black-and-white trailer to her forthcoming single Easy On Me was released earlier this week.
Poignant footage shows the star driving a truck down a US highway to the sound of melancholic piano chords.
Belongings and musical manuscripts fly out of the window behind her in scenes which appeared to symbolise her past being left behind.
Adele’s parents Penny Adkins and Mark Evans also split when she was child.
After years of not speaking, she told how she reconciled with her father before his death in May. She said: “We actually got our peace, again contrary to reports. I played him my album just a week before he passed, over Zoom.

“One thing that definitely happened in my divorce was that it humanised my parents for me. Big time. I went to hell and back!
“And in that I found the peace to forgive him. He was ready to go and he lasted a long time with it. So thank you.”
ON HER NEW MAN
ADELE confirmed for the first time she is dating sports mega-agent Rich Paul, saying: “He’s so f***ing funny.”
Since being single again, Adele has been linked to several rumoured boyfriends, including rapper Skepta.
In July she was pictured with Rich at New York diner Cipriani — days after being seen together for the first time at a basketball game. She said: “I did date before Rich, but they hated it.
“They’d find it stressful being out or seen with me, whereas he’s not frazzled by it at all.
“It feels like it’s consistent and considerate enough that I don’t care who knows.
“He’s great. He’s so f***ing funny. He’s so smart, you know.”
