JAMES Corden is regularly seen singing along with top musicians in his popular Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show, but that didn't stop the Brit from admitting he was "a little nervous" as he joined the iconic Coldplay on stage.
The host, best known for his presenting skills, gave a near perfect rendition of Nothing compares 2 U as he joined his fellow Brits to pay tribute to the late singer Prince - in front of thousands at the Rose Bowl in California.
Introducing James, who turned 38 this week, to the stage Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told the packed out crowd: "I'm very pleased to tell you that in honour of Prince tonight - because we wanna honour Prince - we managed to convince our missing and best member to come back into the band.
He joked: "You may know him from things like Carpool Karaoke and that kind of s***, but we know him as the guy who turned down being in a band with us."
Telling the audience how the collaboration came about, James added: "So this is an idea that Chris said to me, he said 'I think you should come sing this at the Rose Bowl.'
"I'll be honest, I didn't know how big it was when I said yes."
The stripped down version performed by James, showed off the father-of-two's singing skills and was well received by the stadium crowd.
His performance was followed by a surprise birthday cake to mark his special day and a rendition of 'Happy Birthday To You' led by Chris, 39.
James later described it as the "Best birthday present EVER!!!!", while the band described their pal as "A man of infinite talent."
