Mischa Barton ‘ordered to pay £150,000 fine after snubbing movie role to travel around Europe’

The O.C. star was reportedly due to start filming on new sex comedy

MISCHA Barton has reportedly been court ordered to pay costs of £150,000 to a director after she failed to turn up for filming.

According to TMZ, the actress, 30, was due to start work on sex comedy Promoted in March 2014 after being cast in the lead role.

But instead she decided to stay on holiday in Europe, forcing director Daniel Lief to recast the lead role which delayed production and which he said cost him £227,000 ($300,000).

In court documents seen by the celebrity news website, Mischa was ordered by a judge to pay Lief £150,000 ($200,000).

It also reported that producers received an email from Mischa’s mother a day before production was due to start informing them the actress was still in Europe and wouldn't be available until the 20th of the month.

They then reportedly sued the actress when they saw her post photos of her travels all over social media when she should have been on set.

Promoted, which spoofs the day-to-day workings of a dysfunctional ad agency in Los Angeles, was made and released last year.

Barton starred in movies Notting Hill and The Sixth Sense before landing the role of Marissa Cooper in the Fox series The O.C.

But this is not the first legal dispute she has been involved in of late – and the last one was with her mother.

Her battle with Nuala Barton came after she accused her of deliberately delaying the sale of the $7m home they co-own in Beverly Hills and refusing her access after changing the locks.

It’s the second time the Notting Hill star has taken her to court after originally claiming she stole money from her in 2015.
