Judge who threw out Kesha’s court case against Dr Luke ‘married to Sony lawyer’

Suggestions there could be a 'conflict of interest' in ruling on the singer's claims she was 'raped and drugged by producer'

THE judge who was responsible for Kesha's case against Sony producer Dr Luke being thrown out is said to be the wife of a lawyer who has the record firm as a client.

It has been reported that New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich's partner is lawyer Ed Kornreich.

He is a partner at Proskauer Rose, which works with Sony/RCA.

She dismissed the case earlier in the year, after Kesha accused Dr Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald,  of raping and drugging her, as well as making the singer an object of ridicule.

At the time, Justice Kornreich said she made the decision because the allegations had gone beyond the statute of limitations - they were said to have occurred outside of the New York jurisdiction.

There is nothing to suggest the decision was wrong.

 highlighted the close relationship and posed the question of whether Sony and RCA could have had an advantage over the singer.

A music insider told the publication: 'There seems to be a strong conflict of interest."

The paper said Sony did not respond to a request to comment.

,  she dropped the abuse claims from her contract dispute, saying she wouldn't be referring to the allegations as a defence against the producer.

Dr Luke is taking Kesha to court  for breach of her contract at Sony's Kemosabe Records.

Kesha claimed she intended to focus on "professional grievances."

Her attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, said she was planning to focus on the New York action, where she sued Dr Luke claiming he ridiculed her for nearly 10 years as well as being drugged and raped by the producer at one point.

Kesha withdrew her California lawsuit alleging sexual assault and abuse against Dr Luke earlier this month. She said she wanted to concentrate on the case and appeal in New York. Dr. Luke, has denied the allegations and in turn accused her of suing to try to get a better recording deal.

The singer has now delivered 28 new songs to the record label - Petrocelli said in a statement: "We have conveyed to Sony and the label Kesha's strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible."

Meanwhile Kesha is appealing the two New York rulings - one which meant she could not break her contract with Dr. Luke's label, and the other which dismissed her claims of sexual and emotional abuse.
