I loved pretending to be pregnant and playing a ‘grouchier’ queen, says ITV’s Victoria actress Jenna Coleman
The 30-year-old Dr Who star is currently playing Queen Victoria in ITV's new multi-million pound drama
JENNA Coleman has revealed she “loved” pretending to be pregnant in ITV’s new drama Victoria.
She said there were plenty of perks to “basically just walking around with a cushion strapped to me”.
As the feature-length first episode was screened last night Jenna, 30, said of her fake bump: “I love it actually, I love it, because I get to play (Victoria) a little grouchier.
“She kind of doesn’t enjoy pregnancy. And I have a less tight corset, which is nice.”
The actress plays the monarch from her ascension to the throne at 18 through her courtship and marriage to husband Prince Albert and their eight kids.
The former Doctor Who girl has had to deny rumours of her own royal romance with Prince Harry.
Her transformation into Queen Victoria required wearing blue contact lenses, which she said “weirded out” her mum.
Friends kept saying: “I know something is different but I don’t quite know what.”
The eight-part drama is reported to have cost £1million per episode.
The lavish sets, including Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, were created in an old RAF hangar on the outskirts of Leeds.
