Renee Zellweger puts on a joyful display as she attends Bridget Jones press launch in London after slamming society’s perceptions of beauty
The actress is playing the hopeless character for the third time
RENEE Zellweger enjoyed a bit of a pose in front of the cameras as she attended the press launch of the Bridget Jones's Baby after slamming society's perceptions of beauty earlier in the week.
The 47-year-old actress posed happily in front of cameras in a 60s-style salmon pink shift dress with large flappy black sleeves.
She stood with a hand on her hip and one foot in front of the other as she smiled, wavy ombre hair partially covering her face.
Renee went natural with her make-up, opting for light pink lipstick and a bit of mascara.
Co-stars Patrick Dempsey and Colin Firth also joined her for the press launch.
Earlier this week she hit out at society's idea of beauty and body image when interviewed in Australia for the film.
Speaking to the, she said: "[We are] made to believe that there's some value in meeting a social paradigm. It's been that way for centuries."
She added that Bridget Jones is a breath of fresh air to this: "She reminds us that outside of [beauty] everybody has something to contribute. And everybody has appeal in what they are as individuals."
This follows media scrutiny the actress faced after she re-entered the spotlight two years ago looking rather different.
Recently Hugh Grant, who played Daniel Cleaver in the previous two films, failed to recognise the actress' face.
Despite playing one of her two love interests in the 2001 and 2004 rom-coms, he failed to even recognise her when shown pics of the leading ladies he has starred opposite.
The recent film has been directed by Sharon Maguire, who also directed the first film and who the journalist character "Shazza" is based on.
The screenplay has been co-written by Helen Fielding (who wrote the book and Independent columns), David Nichols (author of international hit One Day) and Oscar-winning writer Emma Thompson.
It is set for release on 16 September 2016.
The film sees Bridget Jones focus on her career after splitting up from Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). But then she meets American Jack Quant (Patrick Dempsey) at the same time she has a fling with her old flame and finds herself pregnant... but doesn't know who the father is.
