The Voice Kids UK viewers slam ‘terrible’ singing as the judges Danny, Pixie, Mel C and Will.i.am perform together
THE Voice Kids UK viewers wanted the judges to leave the singing to the children after an impromptu performance.
Danny Jones, Pixie Lott, Will.i.am and Melanie C decided to do an improvised Christmas song during the debut episode of the 2021 series.
The McFly star lead the impromptu show with his guitar as they made up lines to sing.
Danny improvised some verses and then threw to Will.i.am to add some of his own words, while Sporty Spice and Pixie were relegated to over-qualified backup singers.
While the virtual audience was dancing along to the shorty ditty, viewers at home were less keen on the Christmas track.
“All the judges try it out sing each other in the joint singalong by throwing in random Woahs All over the place,” wrote one disgruntled fan on Twitter.
Another added: “These judges just churn out any old crap and the audience lap it up!”
Tonight’s premiere episode saw Mel C join the returning judges to decide which up and coming star they wanted to mentor.
They each got their chance to recruit some major talent with Pixie picking up Birmingham’s Michaela, 11, and Savannah, 13, who sang and Elton John classic.
Mel C chose 14-year-old Torrin after being impressed with her singing and guitar skills.
She also went with another 14-year-old later in the show, and picked Ndana who admitted to losing her shyness once she got on stage.
Young rapper, Leo, predictably went to the Black Eyed Peas frontman who also spun his chair around for gospel singer, Angel, 12.
Danny picked Aishling Mae who performed his grandad’s favourite Christmas song, Have Yourself A Merry Christmas.
He also got to rock out with his second pick, Joseph, 11, who shredded out on the guitar with his idol.
The three-episode series kicked off tonight and will got on to have a semi final and a final which air on Wednesday, December 29.
The winner will take home a cash and a trip to Disneyland.
Thirteen-year-old Justine Afante won The Voice Kids 2020.
The teenager from Swansea impressed the coaches on day one with her own take of Never Enough from The Greatest Showman during her audition.
Justine was mentored by Pixie Lott, who will be returning for series five as a judge.
Previous winners of the four series have been: Jess Folley, Daniel Davies and Sam Wilkinson.
