TOWIE star James Argent's worried pals were forced to call 999 after an emergency at the star's home.

The reality favourite, 34, has turned his life around over the past year, losing an incredible 11stone in weight.

But Arg suffered a scare this week after hitting a blip in his recovery and desperately concerned pals called an ambulance when they couldn’t get hold of him.

A source said: "James has been doing so well, but the drastic change to his lifestyle has had pressures of its own and can be tough.

"Unfortunately it happened on a day when he was feeling low and an ambulance had to be called.

"He is changing his number again and is now focusing on surrounding himself with the right people who support him in his new healthy lifestyle.”

After being assessed by paramedics, Arg was able to remain at home and didn't need hospital treatment.

The Sun has contacted a rep for Arg for comment.

Before seeking help for cocaine and alcohol abuse in 2020, Arg described himself as being on "death row".

Paramedics were pictured at his house twice in a matter of months in 2019 after he went missing for 48hours and 'overdosed'.

He swapped substance use for binge eating junk food and his weight spiralled out of control to 27 stone.

He recently told The Sun: “Bingeing made me tired and lethargic so I’d make plans every day to meet friends, do a job or achieve something.

“But after I binged, I was so exhausted I’d end up just staying in bed and not leaving the house.

“Then one afternoon my mum found me in bed and started crying.

“She said, ‘I don’t recognise my son any more.’ That was a big wake-up call."

Last April Arg underwent gastric surgery and has since seen the weight fall off.

He has been pictured looking better and happier than ever, and with the help of best pal Mark Wright has thrown himself into regular exercise.

Arg told us: ";I have got my life back and I’m ticking things off a list every day and achieving things that I’ve always wanted to do.”
