Coronation Street star Colson Smith wants to bag ‘Sexiest Male’ gong
The flame-haired star admitted he would stop at nothing until he secured the status
FORGET about securing accolades for his acting, Coronation Street favourite Colson Smith has his sights set on the gong reserved solely for soap's SEXIEST MALE.
The flame-haired star, who plays Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, has revealed bagging a hunky status and accompanying trophy has been a life-long ambition.
He revealed: "“I’ve always wanted to be the kid who could take his top off, but I won’t stop until I’ve won Sexiest Male at the British Soap Awards.”
The teen went one step further to even put himself forward for ladies' man role James Bond.
Talking of a potential switch from Wetherfield, he added: "I'd be silly to leave. But they do need a new James Bond!"
Craig, 18, recently revealed he felt like "an athlete" after his intense gym regime saw him shed three and a half stone.
He told The Aled Jones Show he had been training alongside PT's at Ultimate Performance Fitness in Manchester.
Speaking to presenter Aled he admitted: "“I feel like an athlete. Everything is monitored. My diet is monitored.”
His new look may well have added to his desire to be hailed sexiest man in soap.
Adding to his chat with the magazine, he said: “Losing weight is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time."
Back on-screen, muscly Colson has been at the heart of a plot which has seen the identity of his dad revealed.
Fans were all too familiar with brash Beth Tinker (Lisa George) – the mum to the cheeky flame-haired lad – who has been a firm favourite since 2011.
Ex Emmerdale star Paul Loughran, who played Butch Dingle, will soon make his mark on Wetherfield as Craig’s previously unknown parent.
The Northern Irish actor first saw TV fame in the ITV soap in 1994 yet telly fans were left devastated after his character was killed off in a bus crash six years later.
In his new job playing Darryl, he is attempting to build bonds as with Craig during emotional scenes where he admits he has spent a chunk of his life behind bars.
