Lydia Bright and Ollie Locke feared for their lives on Bear Grylls’ The Island
The pair opened up on shocking weight loss and lack of food in a chat with Lorraine Kelly
REALITY TV stars Ollie Locke and Lydia Bright feared they would DIE after going hungry and seeing their weight PLUMMET when they starred on Bear Gryll's show The Island.
Bubbly Towie girl Lydia struck up a friendship with the Made in Chelsea star when they were left stranded in a dangerous south American forest along with the intrepid explorer.
Talking of the nerve-wracking survival experience she told today's Lorraine show: "I think it was the toughest thing both of us have ever done in our whole entire lives."
The beauty revealed: "It's the thirst as well - we couldn't find water for a long time.
"I think at times we thought we are going to die."
She added: "The first day you think this is quite easy, we've found camp we've found water
"You'll watch - we didn't do either of those.
"It was hardcore."
When pressed by show host Lorraine Kelly as to whether she was being genuine about fearing for her life, she gushed she was, while posh tottie Ollie added he had lost more than two stone during the process.
He saw his weight drop from 11.5 stone to just under nine stone as he left the jungle, and added: "The dehydration is so sever you actually get to dangerous levels."
He added: "It soon creeps up on you, you don't have any foods We didn't eat for a lot of it. We couldn't find any food.
As a group of 14 adventurers they shed 20 stone in two weeks.
The duo are the latest famous faces to be recruited to Bear's nerve-wracking programme, after Mel B starred last week.
Ollie admitted that in order to feed the starving camp he had to go out and kill a caiman alligator.
After re-living the terror Lydia quipped: "I never thought I would see the day this Chelsea boy killed a caiman!"
He agreed and said: "My friends think I'm crazy!"
After news of his antics was released last month it prompted a furious reaction from animal charities.
Alan Knight, of International Animal Rescue, said: “I feel it is totally unacceptable to kill or abuse animals for entertainment.”
Knight claimed the animal would have “suffered unnecessarily” as the 29-year-old would not have a clue how to do it “humanely”.
Ollie, who looked visibly uncomfortable during the slaughter, kills the beast after being encouraged to do it by fellow contestant Karen Danczuk.
Yet their hair-raising experiences and near-starvation haven't dampened their spirits.
Both agreed it had only added fuel to their plans to explore in the future.
Lydia, who recently split from Towie boyfriend James Argent, added: "This has made me more of an adrenaline junkie."
The show will air on Sunday, at 9pm, as part of Channel 4's Stand Up To Cancer event.
