SOAP fans have shown their delight at a former Emmerdale favourite popping up on Coronation Street.
The man who famously played lovable rogue Butch Dingle, appeared on tonight’s episode as Craig Tinker’s (Colson Smith) jailbird dad.
Paul Loughran played Butch on Emmerdale from 1994 until he met his death in a bus crash in 2000.
But tonight viewers were given a real treat when Craig went to visit his father in prison, and it turned out to be the man who played Butch.
It was revealed last month that Paul would be joining the soap, and would be playing Daryl Tinker.
Fans immediately took to Twitter to express their joy: “"Imagine when Craig finds out his Dad's Butch Dingle.... #Corrie"
Another said: "Butch Dingle is alive"
This one tweeted: "It's butch dingle in corrie"
While this one said: "Is that big bad Butch Dingle?! #corrie"
It's not yet clear how long he will be on the soap for, but no doubt fans will be pleased to see him stay.
