Lady Gaga to cover classic Amy Winehouse track to support late singer’s Foundation
LADY GAGA couldn’t speak for 48 hours following the death of Amy Winehouse.
But now she’ll be using her vocal cords to pay the ultimate tribute to the late singer by covering one of her classic songs.
The US superstar is in talks to record a special track to feature on Amy’s dedicated YouTube channel, set up to raise money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
Amy’s dad Mitch revealed the news at North London’s Zebra One Gallery during an exhibition to mark the fifth anniversary of the foundation.
And he also revealed another huge star taking part.
In an exclusive interview, he said: “We’ve got this new YouTube channel where stars all over the world are going to do an Amy track and however many hits we get after the first 2million, we start making money for the Foundation.
“Leona Lewis is going to do one, Lady Gaga will do one, and a few other stars.

“Hopefully it’s going to be a source of revenue for the foundation. We need money and that’s a great way to get cash and remember Amy, go on YouTube and have fun.”
After hearing Amy had passed away in July 2011, Gaga was unable to speak for two days.
Speaking on US chat show The View, she revealed: “I am just so devastated and so sad and I really could not speak for 48 hours straight, I was in such shock.”
But the global superstar still managed to instantly pay tribute to the singer on social media.
She wrote on Twitter: “Amy changed pop music forever, I remember knowing there was hope and feeling not alone because of her. She lived jazz, she lived the blues.”
And top stars continue to remember her huge influence, including Adele who dedicated Make You Feel My Love to her idol while playing a gig in Boston on the same day as the exhibition on what would have been her 33rd birthday.
Last night, Gaga revealed the name of her new album – Joanne – which is due to be released October 21.
In an interview with Zane Lowe, she revealed: “It’s called Joanne. For me it’s like the true heart and soul of the record.
“I remember when Mark Ronson and I wrote it, the decision ultimately to name the album Joanne was in tribute to my father’s sister who died when she was 19.
“He was younger than her and she was very sick with lupus. The death of her in his family and life really left a scar that never healed.”
She added: “As I returned to my home life and spending time with my friends and hanging out with my family and getting out of the mainstream limelight for a minute, what I realised is the experiences of our family and our challenges are what make us who we are.
“It’s everything about Joanne, which also happens to be my middle name, I was named after her, it’s all the toughness of the pain of losing her that made us all strong and made us who we are.
“She is the woman of my past who is becoming and helping me bring more of my honest woman self into the future.”
I've heard the title track about her aunt, which is a beautiful haunting song.
It’s a real change and not at all like traditional Gaga.
Rosie sees wed
ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY clearly wants COLDPLAY to perform at her wedding to Hollywood action man JASON STATHAM.
The model was seen chatting to CHRIS MARTIN’s girlfriend ANNABELLE WALLIS, at the Ralph Lauren fashion show in New York on Wednesday.
Given she’s the face of M&S, I’m sure Rosie could sort a mini-food buffet in exchange . . .
She's back
IT’s been a long wait, but EMELI SANDE’s new album is nearly here.
Long Live The Angels, out November 11, is the follow-up to her 2012 debut smash Our Version of Events.
Her new single Hurts – which I’ve heard and is amazing – is out today.
And the album even features a collaboration with her own father Joel, a teacher, on a track called Tenderly, which they perform with The Serenje Choir.
I bet it gets top marks.
8 days a peek
IT’S not often you get the two remaining BEATLES together – but SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and RINGO STARR could not miss the London premiere of their new movie.
The legends were joined by wives NANCY SHEVELL and BARBARA BACH, along with LIAM GALLAGHER and YOKO ONO who walked the carpet in honour of her late husband JOHN LENNON.
RON HOWARD, director of The Beatles: Eight Days A Week, was also in attendance, not that he got much attention when singer TALLIA STORM seemingly opened her dress for the snappers.
Definitely another iconic moment in the band’s incredible history.
