X Factor hopeful Mike Hough confesses to losing out on MOBO award to Adele in 2011
X FACTOR hopeful Mike Hough is no stranger to success – and previously lost out on a MOBO award to Adele in 2011.
Before auditioning for the ITV show on Saturday, the singer has enjoyed a brief taste of the high life after independently releasing a single five years ago.
Talking about almost making it, Mike told host Dermot O’Leary: “I’ve always got close but never made it.
“When I was younger I started out singing on YouTube and then in 2011 I released an independent single.
“I got nominated for a MOBO award for Best UK R&B/Soul Act and I lost out to Adele – that’s my claim to fame!
"I love her and she can have it… I’ll happily tell people she won it.”
