This morning Safiyya, 34, took to Instagram to share a painfully honest post about how she was feeling today.

Alongside a selection of gorgeous snaps of her daughter, Safiyya said: "How am I coping with today???

"I’m really struggling, the ache in my heart the lump in my throat the sore eyes from me crying I feel suffocated by today I just want it to be over! 😢 is the truth of how it really feels.

"Waking up with a heavy heart is something I do everyday but today I was reflecting on last years Mother’s Day, I was so proud to wake up with my baby give her a bath see her pretty smile light up my heart and have breakfast at home as a family smiling & enjoying my 1st Mother’s Day I will always treasure that day 👼 💗."

Safiyya explained that all the other mums in the same position as her have been in her thoughts.

She continued: "I no so many of you Angel mummys are waking up feeling the same, or the sadness of not having a mother to share this special day with my thoughts and love are with you all be gentle with your self today 🙏🏽💗.

"And for the others that are lucky enough to celebrate this day hold it with both hands and soak every last drop up with your children or mothers 💗🙏🏽💗."

Safiyya concluded the post by praising her partner Ashley for his constant love and support through such a hard time.

She said: "Thankyou Ashley for waking me up this morning & bringing me coffee & flowers in bed but most importantly making me a mummy to our beautiful baby girl my love will run for eternity for you & Azaylia
💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗.

";Thankyou to everyone for the beautiful messages flowers and treats the kindness is heartwarming 🙏🏽💗."

Many rushed to the comments section to send their love to Safiyya.

The Valley's Lateysha Grace said: "Happy Mother’s Day saf ❤️ sending you loads of love and prayers , your so strong ❤️❤️❤️."

Towie's Danielle Armstrong wrote: "Thinking of you today my darling. Strongest mummy I know your little girl will be with you today. You will feel her love 🧡 xxxxx."

Love Island's Jessica Hayes added: "Happy Mother’s Day beautiful ❤️ your angel is with you and so proud of how amazing you are ❤️ sending love today 😘❤️ xxxxx.

It comes after Safiyya shared an open video about her baby girl Azaylia following her death last year.

The devastated mum has been open with her struggle in coping with the loss, and often shares photos of her daughter's grave, which she visits often daily.

She wrote on her Instagram story ahead of Mothering Sunday: "Scrolling through my Insta walking past shops hearing people talking about Mothers Day brings so much pain to my body.

"Yesterday I just went to buy some aloe vera gel & couldn't hold back the tears in a shop.

"When times like this are approaching I end up feeling really uncomfortable

"I had the best Mothers Day last year with my princess.

"I miss you so much even though I may be trying to carry on in this world I feel like my world is smashed to pieces".

She also said she wanted to remind people to think of the mothers who have lost children.

It read: "Please don't forget the Mothers with empty arms this Mothering Sunday".

She added alongside a heartbreaking video of pictures of her daughter and some of her toys: "I find it so hard mummy loves you so much".

Ashley also revealed keeping his late daughter’s legacy going has helped keep him alive in the wake of her death.

In an exclusive interview in January, the former reality TV star said he would continue fundraising to help other families whose children have cancer.

Ashley and his partner Safiyya lost Azaylia in April last year after she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia when she was eight weeks-old.

While her life was cruelly cut short, the tot’s diagnosis and subsequent fundraiser got worldwide attention and a staggering £1.6million was raised in her name in just a few days.

Ashley said: “Exercise and doing this bike ride is something that has kept me here."
