Sarah Paulson takes real OJ Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clarke to the Emmy Awards as she bags a gong for playing her in American Crime Story
The actress brought along her real-life inspiration for the tough attorney in the smash hit show
SARAH Paulson bagged her first Emmy Award at this year's event for her portrayal of Marcia Clark in American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson.
Taking home the gong for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, Sarah made sure she brought along with her someone special to share the moment with - the real woman she portrayed on screen.
Marcia Clark was the prosecution for the real OJ Simpson trial, and was met with a series of media backlash due to her looks rather than her ability in the courtroom.
The pair posed happily on the red carpet as they arrived together arm in arm, and immediately hugged when Sarah was pronounced the winner.

But the real tender moment came when Sarah took to the mic to say her thank yous, and dedicated most of her allotted time to the former lawyer.
She gushed: "The responsibility of playing a real person is an enormous one. You want to get it right, not for you but for them.
"And the more I learned about the real Marcia Clark, not the two-dimensional cardboard cutout I saw on the news but the complicated, whip-smart, giant-hearted mother of two who woke up every day, put both feet on the floor and dedicated herself to righting an unconscionable wrong, the loss of two innocents—Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown—the more I had to recognise that I, along with the rest of the world, had been superficial and careless in my judgement.
"I'm glad to be able to stand here today in front of everyone and tell you I'm sorry."
The People vs OJ Simpson took home the most number of gongs at the ceremony, and left Tom Hiddleston empty handed for his work in The Night Manager after Courtney B Vance managed to nab the award for Outstanding Actor in a mini-series for his part in the show.
