The stars hit the Emmys red carpet in on-trend black mesh dresses… but not everyone got it right

The stars of the small screen opted for sexy black dresses for this year's awards

THIS year’s Emmy Awards red carpet saw the return of the black dress… with many opting for the on-trend mesh frock.

A lot of the stars opted for this gothic look, but some didn’t get it right.

There was all different takes on it, from cutaways to polka dots, fishtails to 1920s glamour.

One actress who looked sensational was Kirsten Dunst, who looked beautiful in her floor length gown.

Scream actress Neve Campbell also opted for traditional Hollywood glamour.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Porsha Williams ditched the dress and went for the mesh look with trousers.

Entertainment Tonight host Nancy O'Dell looked slinky in her dress, and multiple Emmy winner Julia Louis Dreyfus looked elegant in this cocktail dress.

Dresses which didn’t go down as well included Zuri Hall's cutaway dress which barely covered her boobs.

And actress Stephanie Corneliussen's fishtail dress was also a fashion fail.
