Top Gun: Maverick fans all say the same thing as Tom Cruise returns to legendary movie role

MORE than three decades after its release, Top Gun is FINALLY getting its long-awaited sequel.

Fans of the 1986 film are all sharing their excitement as Tom Cruise comes back at full speed.

Hollywood superstar Tom is reprising the role of US Navy pilot LT Pete Mitchell as confirmed by a brand new trailer.

Paramount Pictures have teased the upcoming release of Top Gun: Maverick, which will be coming to theatres on May 27, 2022 - and everyone is saying the same thing about the film's star over on YouTube.

The excitement is unanimous in the trailer's comment section and Tom is receiving most, if not all, of the praise.

"I've been waiting since 2019. Tom Cruise is simply the best", one YouTube user wrote, while another added: "waited for a long time to watch this epic movie. Tom Cruise at his finest."

While many are happy to see Tom back on the job ahead of the release of Mission Impossible 7 (expected in September, 2022), other Top Gun enthusiasts couldn't stop themselves from pointing out how long they have had to wait for a sequel.

"This could not come soon enough, I've been waiting so long", one Internet user commented on YouTube.

"I've been waiting for this movie to be released for two years and now the wait is finally over", added another.

Another fan also wrote: "One of my most awaited movies", as one final user commented: "I can't wait anymore, I watched the trailer a lot since 2019."

The first footage of Top Gun: Maverick premiered in Tom's presence during the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con.
