She added: "But with the second one it was a different story."

Kellie also claimed that taking part in last year's Strictly Come Dancing helped her worry less about how difficult it was.

She was paired with Kevin Clifton and was runner-up to winners Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani.

Speaking to Magazine, she said: "I think Strictly helped as it took the focus off trying and the fact that I was nearing 40."

Kellie, who plays Linda Carter in the BBC One soap, revealed that they had been trying for more than a year: "I was very aware that I wasn't getting any younger.

"We feel very lucky that we're having another baby."

The actress met Paul nine years ago when he was just 24 and she was 31. They married in 2014 but split up for two months before their wedding.

But she claimed that she realised she'd made a serious mistake and the couple decided to travel and move in together before making it official.

Kellie admitted: "After a bit of head space I realised I was cutting off my nose to spite my face. I thought, 'What am I doing? Take your foot off the gas.'"

They haven't got a birthing plan for their next arrival after having trouble with her firstborn.

She admitted: "I had to be induced and I had pre-eclampsia. So this time I'm just going to go with the flow."
