Divorce papers confirm Jolie and Pitt marriage is over - and she wants custody of their six children

IT'S OFFICIAL. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce papers have gone public, confirming the split between the Hollywood power couple.

The Sun exclusively revealed earlier today that the A-listers are to go their separate ways after a twelve year relationship and two years of marriage.

The documents reveal that Angelina was the person to have filed for the divorce - citing 'irreconilable differences' for the reason behind their split.

The citation, which was filed in Los Angeles, showed that Angelina also put through a summons to discuss the custody of the children, where she is seeking full custody with visitation rights for Brad.

Brad and Angelina have six children from their twelve year relationship - biological children Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, and adopted children Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11.

It also confirmed that Angie has hired top celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser for the divorce - the same lawyer that has just completed the proceedings for the other major celeb split of the year, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

In the hours since the split was announced, allegations of Brad's infidelity with french actress Marion Cotillard have been rife, as well as accusations that the actress had become fed-up with her estranged hubby's 'weed-smoking and anger issues'.

Brad has now gone public with a statement about his impending divorce which read: "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids.

"I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

He has also categorically denied the allegations of his supposed affair.

Angelina released a similar statement saying that the divorce was for the "health of the family."
