When is Doctor Foster on BBC One tonight?
The new series of Doctor Foster continues TONIGHT (Tuesday, October 3) at 9pm on BBC One.
Episode five goes head-to-head with Reformation: Europe's Holy War on BBC Two, Cilla on ITV, Barbie: The Most Famous Doll In The World on Channel 4 and Alaska: A Year in the Wild on Channel 5.
Filming for the new series was put on hold as lead actress Suranne Jones welcomed her first child with husband Laurence Akers in March 2016.
In 2016, the first episode aired on September 9 on BBC One and it was a five-part series which drew a massive audience of 10 million people for the finale.
Who is in the cast of Doctor Foster?
The Doctor Foster cast for series two includes a number of familiar faces.
Ex-Coronation Street star Suranne Jones plays the lead role of Dr Gemma Foster in the mystery-drama series, while Bertie Carvel is the doctor's husband Simon.
Suranne's performance last year was hailed by critics are earned her multiple nominations at the National Television Awards.
The 38-year-old won Best Actress at the British Academy Television Awards 2015, Royal Television Society Awards 2015, Broadcasting Press Guild Awards 2015 and Drama Performance at the National Television Awards 2015.
Babylon actor Bertie Carvel will be resuming his role as love rat husband Simon Foster.
Thirteen actress Jodie Comer is also returning to the cast, playing Bertie's onscreen lover Kate Parks.
What's happened so far?
Suranne's character had a rough time in the first series as she became suspicious that her husband and father of her son Simon was having an affair.
Dr Foster's fears are confirmed and she finds out Simon has been sleeping with a much younger woman called Kate and is devastated when she realises it had been going on for two years.
And to make matters worse, the young woman, who is also one of Gemma's patients at her GP practice, fell pregnant with Simon's child.
Viewers are forced to watch Dr Foster tell Kate the news about the baby and see her plot revenge for her husband and his mistress.
After a violent confrontation over a dinner with Kate's parents, Simon and his pregnant lover escape away while Gemma successfully won custody of her son Tom.
What's in store this series?
The new series centres around Gemma and Simon's divorce.
The story is picked up two years from the end of series one and relationships don't seem to have healed, while actress Suranne has described the characters as "damaged people".
The scenes on the first day of filming showed Gemma leaving a nightclub a little worse for wear.
She was spotted and photographed by her estranged husband who may use the pictures as evidence in their messy divorce.
Meanwhile a teaser clip has shown Gemma and Simon's teenage son Tom carrying a knife.
Suranne has revealed that after the first episode of the new series, the show will "shift" and take a "dark" turn, saying: “Gemma doesn’t behave well, and before she did that through hurt and now she’s channelling her anger [differently].
"It becomes dark and twisted, so she doesn’t believe in redemption for [husband Simon] but that’s the beauty of our story.”
