VAL Stones has become the fifth person to lose her place on the Great British Bake Off.
The 66-year-old, who became a fan favourite after a series of wacky moves in the tent including talking to her cakes, struggled with her Bakewell tart in pastry week.
The news came as quite a surprise to her fellow bakers who thought she would have made a Bakewell Tart before, baker and PE teacher Candice took the crown as star baker for the second time this series.
However things went wrong rather quickly when she realised she wasn't following the directions properly and had just been adding what she thought was needed.
She told an amused Mel that she makes Bakewell Tarts every week for her family - but with a rather different recipes.
During her time on the show she baked each of her family into her creations, with her two sisters being depicted in her showstoppers - resulting in Paul Hollywood “eating” her sister’s head.
Talking as she exited the show, the retired headteacher said: “‘I am a reasonably good baker but not a tent baker, but I did something else that no other baker achieved - I got all my family on television and that is more important to me.If you notice all my bakes are around my family.
“When Mary was judging my Bakewell Tart, she looked at my pastry and said this is the first soggy bottom on the series. Of course I was disappointed but you have to just go with it.”
