Outrage as Martin Hughes-Games is SACKED from Springwatch… but the BBC change their minds two days later
The BBC star has confused fans about his standpoint as presenter of the show
FANS of Martin Hughes-Games have been getting more and more outraged as his future as presenter of the BBC gardening programme is cast into doubt.
Across the weekend, the presenter wrote on Twitter: "The BBC commissioner Tom McDonald has decided my services no longer requires on Springwatch etc. Sad, but it's been brilliant. Thank you."
The tweet appeared to confirm that the star had been booted on the show, however the Beeb has now backtracked.
They said that Martin will still be hosting Autumnwatch alongside Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan when the series starts in October.
A statement released said: "Martin very much remains part of The 'Watches family."
The news has sent viewers of the show into heaps of confusion - with some believing he's staying, while others remaining convinced he has been given the boot.

One fan felt the need to start a petition on to support Martin and to beg BBC to reconsider - with over 2000 supporters putting their name down.
Carol Dowson, who started the petition, wrote on the site: "The show has brought sheer joy to the public for several years in its current format and that is in part down to the enthusiasm, warmth and passion evident within Martin's presenting.
"His chemistry with Chris and Michaela has propelled the show to levels of success that are reflected in its current popularity.
"It is grossly unfair to terminate his involvement and has appalled the army of loyal fans that Springwatch has accrued."
As fans took to Twitter to write about their anger, one said: "@MartinHGames and future Springwatch projects? It'll never be the same without you. Your dynamic is essential for the show. We need you!"
Another said: "hurrah, you and the team do a fabulous job and I'm glad you'll be back."
Two days after his initial statement, Martin confirmed his stay and wrote: "I'm very happy to say I'll see you in October on Autumnwatch. Thanks SO much for all yr support."
