Emmerdale viewers bemused by bizarre Titanic proposal scenes between Dan and Kerry

EMMERDALE viewers have been left bemused by Dan Spencer's bizarre Titanic proposal to Kerry Wyatt.

The hapless mechanic got down on bended knee dressed as Jack Dawson from the classic 1997 film after Kerry caught the bouquet at David Metcalfe's wedding to Tracey Shankley in Thursday night's episode of the ITV soap.

After accepting his proposal, Kerry changed into a Rose costume Dan had got for her and the couple stood on a wooden ship structure in the garden as a man dressed in drag like Celine Dion sang the film's theme tune, My Heart Will Go On.

But the scenes left many of the show's fans bemused, with many taking to Twitter to question if what they had just seen had actually happened.

One wrote: "Just turned on itv and #emmerdale was on....wtf was that all about???" while another wrote: "Why is Emmerdale and weddings getting so weird lately? Tragedy dance yesterday and some boat thing with a singer today. Odd."

Another added: "That's got to be the cheesiest proposal on @emmerdale".

However some fans absolutely loved the comedy scenes, with one tweeting: "Hahaha the writers of Emmerdale must have been on something when they wrote tonight's episode like #titanic #proposal #bantaaa."

Another fan added: "I absolutely loveeee the proposal on emmerdale. I need a titanic proposal in my life" alongside lots of crying with laughter emojis.

A fellow viewer simply wrote: "Best marriage proposal I've ever seen #emmerdale".

However Dan and Kerry's relationship could be as doomed as that of Jack and Rose's after Kerry raced from the boat clutching her stomach.

Away from her fiance, she clutched her stomach, touched her face to check her temperature as she tried not to be sick.

Realisation suddenly dawned on Kerry that she is pregnant, marking the start of a who's the daddy? storyline as viewers recently saw the beautician have a one night stand with Ross Barton after discovering Dan had kissed Nicola King.
