How can I watch the Met Gala 2024 red carpet?

The Met Gala is typically held on the first Monday of May each year—except for 2021 when it took place in September due to Covid-19 precautions.

The 2024 Met Gala red carpet will be broadcast live across Vogue's website and Vogue's digital platforms.

The event will also be live-streamed on TikTok and YouTube.

Red carpet events will begin around 6 pm ET.

Fashion fanatics can also tune into the Live from E! talk show for the night's latest looks.

Those without regular television can stream red carpet coverage on , fuboTV, and TikTok.

The Met Gala livestream will be hosted by several familiar faces, including Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony, and Ashley Graham.

Emma Chamberlain will also return to the Met as Vogue's special correspondent, snagging interviews from some of the night's biggest stars.

Where is the Met Gala?

The Met Gala is held each year at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.

The invite-only event highlights different fashion eras, with each theme celebrating a powerful moment in design.

For 2024, the Met Gala's theme is The Garden of Time, while the Costume Institute's new exhibition is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

describes the exhibit as "the celebration of clothing and fashion so fragile that it can’t ever be worn again," causing them to be the "sleeping beauties in the scrupulous archives of the Costume Institute."

The Garden of Time, a short story written by J.G. Ballard in 1962, inspired this year's dress code, which refers to "fleeting beauty."

Most celebrities will likely walk the red carpet embracing the "garden" aspect of the theme, dressed in "melancholic" or "moody florals."

Others may "go beyond blooms—look at the lesser-used incarnations of flora and fauna in the fashion," and use "Land, Sea, and Sky subthemes" in their red-carpet looks.

Who is hosting the 2024 Met Gala?

Anna Wintour will serve as honorary co-chair of the Met Gala alongside several high-profile celebrities.

Wintour has chosen the co-chairs, or hosts, of the annual benefit since 1995.

In 2024, Wintour will be joined by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth.

Lopez leads the pack as a 13-time attendee, while Zendaya has graced the red carpet five times in the past.

Bad Bunny will ring in his third year at the Met, while Hemsworth will be making his very first appearance ever, at this year's gala.

Last year's group included Dua Lipa, Roger Federer, Michaela Coel, and Penélope Cruz.

The 2024 Met Gala's honorary chairs include TikTok CEO Shou Chew and Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson.

Tickets to the Met Gala go for upwards of $30,000, with tickets to the 2023 event reportedly starting at $50,000.

However, not all celebrities have to pay the steep price of admission.

Fashion houses regularly foot the bill for tables – which can cost $300,000 or more – and design outfits for the event's A-list clientele in exchange for major publicity, exposure, and goodwill.
