Nick Knowles is ‘working through things’ with estranged wife Jessica and ‘not dating’ Gemma Oaten
The DIY SOS is working on rebuilding relations with his 'best friend'
NICK Knowles has said that he is trying to rebuild relations with estranged wife Jessica and has denied that he is dating ex-Emmerdale actress Gemma Oates, 32.
The 53-year-old DIY SOS presenter revealed that he and the mother of his two-year-old son are "working through things" and that they are still "deeply close".
Despite the snaps of himself hugging the soap actress at the TV Choice Awards in London earlier this month, he denies that they're "dating".
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said: "She's a lovely girl but I'm not in a place at the moment where I am looking to date anybody."
He added about his relationship with his estranged wife: "We've had a really difficult year, but Jessica stayed my best friend and we're still deeply close."
This will likely displease Gemma, who The Sun revealed sent gushing tweets to the presenter while he was still with his wife.
In 2014, while he was still with wife Jessica, 29, she tweeted him praise for an episode of DIY SOS and added a kiss on the end.
She wrote: “@MrNickKnowles crying still. What strength. So beautiful the selflessness shown & your compassion. Quality and worthy TV. Bravo! #DIYSOS x”
Last month his estranged wife bravely opened up about being diagnosed with cervical cancer.
She revealed to This Morning hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes her first reaction was to think about ex reality TV star Jade who died from the illness in 2009, aged just 27.
When quizzed about her response to her medical diagnosis, Jessica said: "Probably Jade Goody.
"If you hear cervical cancer you think of Jade and that was terrible.
"I have a young child like Jade."
