"We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time."

At the inquest, a friend shared that the pair had taken hallucinogenic LSD before the fatal incident.

Arthur suffered his fatal brain injury when he fell down the Ovingdean Gap, after staggering around on top of the cliff.

What has Nick Cave said about his son?

After the death of Arthur, Nick and his family moved from Brighton to the US.

They relocated to Los Angeles as Nick said: "Brighton had just become too sad".

In his edition of the Red Hand Files in November 2021, Nick explained that the move didn't erase the sadness of the loss.

He said: "We did, however, return [to Brighton] once we realised that, regardless of where we lived, we just took our sadness with us.

“These days, though, we spend much of our time in London, in a tiny, secret, pink house, where we are mostly happy.”

What happened to Jethro Cave?

Nick's other son Jethro died aged 31, the family confirmed.

Jethro Lazenby, half-brother to Arthur, was released from prison only days before.

Mr Cave said: "With much sadness, I can confirm that my son, Jethro, has passed away.

"We would be grateful for family privacy at this time."
