Many Twitter users seem to believe that J. Cole has stepped down from making music following the release of his album The Fall Off in 2021.
In May 2021, the rumours began following an interview Cole did with talking about the possibility of retirement.
During the interview, he said: “Oh, bro, I’m super comfortable with the potential of being done with this s**t”.
He added: “But, I’m never going to say, ‘Oh, this is my last album.’ … Because I never know how I’m going to feel two years, three years, four years down the line, 10 years down the line, but please believe, I’m doing all this work for a reason.”

The rumours seem to have resurfaced after a fan tweeted on April 18, 2022, that the rapper has retired.
The rapper is still yet to confirm if the rumours are true.

On April 18, 2022, an unverified fan page of the rapper named @TeamDREAMVILLE tweeted: “J. Cole has officially retired”
The tweet pulled in over 76,000 likes and tons of responses.
Many people in the comment section were upset to see the news that the artist could be retiring.
One Twitter user commented: “I hope not.”
Another added: “Please tell me you’re lying.”

Jermaine Lamarr Cole, better known as J. Cole, is a 37-year-old American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
He is thought to be one of the most influential rappers of his generation.
Cole released his debut studio album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, in 2011 which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.
