Who is BBC Breakfast’s Jon Kay?

EVER since Dan Walker announced he was leaving BBC Breakfast, Jon Kay is believed to be the front runner to take on the role permanently.

Kay has been filling in for Dan since his departure but the BBC is yet to confirm whether he will be a permanent replacement alongside Sally Nugent.

Who is Jon Kay?

Jonathan Francis “Jon” Kay is a 52-year-old English TV presenter, newsreader, and journalist.

Born on November 8, 1969, in Hull, Yorkshire, he is best known for his work on BBC News.

After graduating from Exeter University in 1992, he joined the BBC as a trainee local reporter, where he worked at local radio stations.

He later got a full-time job at BBC Bristol.

Following his time working at BBC Bristol and local radio stations, he made the move to London to work as a political reporter and news correspondent for the BBC.

He became a BBC News at Six correspondent during the London Olympics in 2012 and an election correspondent during the 2015 general election campaign.

He also is a regular presenter on BBC Breakfast, stepping in to cover for Dan Walker and Charlie Stayt.

Kay is now the favourite to take over from Dan and applications for the presenting role were shown on the BBC website and closed on May 24.
