Angry soap fans vow to BOYCOTT Emmerdale after ‘disgusting’ dog napping storyline
The scenes between Charity and Ross sparked fury among telly fans for the second night running
EMMERDALE viewers have threatened to turn their back on the soap after they slammed the second night of the show's "disgraceful" dog napping storyline.
Yesterday, we reported how fans were left up in arms after learning about Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Ross Barton's (Michael Parr) plans to steal a dog for money.
Tonight's show saw them put their money-spinning plan into action leaving furious telly fans promising to boycott the ITV show.
One took to Twitter to write: "I will not be watching anymore after the dog napping storyline, no matter how you try to justify it, you have now promoted it!"
After witnessing the pair''s plans for "Operation Wolfie" last night, one added: "No joke - I am an avid fan but will not watch tomorrow's episode and hope others take a stand. You should be ashamed."
Another branded the scenes "painful to watch" while one ranted: "This dog napping is a disgraceful storyline.
"Too many people are suffering in this world from dogs bring stolen."
Another took offence at the type of dog used in the scenes and wrote: "Well done @emmerdale for fuelling stereotypes and portraying a #rottweiler to be a big, scary dog. What a disgraceful misrepresentation."
meanwhile one firmly pointed the finger at producers and typed: "Whoever came up with this dog napping story on #Emmerdale needs sacking. Disgusting."
Tonight's show saw Charity and Ross head to a park, before the blonde mum slapped on a sorrowful pout and pretended to have lost her pooch, Emma.
Hunky Ross meanwhile lay in wait behind a bush and lured a massive white dog, which he called Fluffy, to his hiding place.
After successfully drawing him in with treats, he said: "This should be worth a couple of hundred pounds."
Yet a shocked Charity remained unimpressed and replied: "I thought you said these things were worth £7,000."
She added: "I need a proper pay day, for a gym membership, who cares!"
Ross then clarified they were not kidnapping the pooch, merely stealing it and making a ransom demand before releasing it.
Yet the dog had its day when it escaped, prompting a flurry of celebration from fans on Twitter.
Though this quickly turned to fury as a rottweiler appeared on the scene looking menacing, which fans branded a inaccurate stereotype.
The dog plot ended in happiness for Charity and Ross, though, who shared a snog in their car afterwards.
