Great British Bake Off viewers shocked at Candice Brown calling Mary Berry a ‘TART’

GREAT British Bake Off fans were shocked during tonight's episode when contestant Candice Brown appeared to call Mary Berry a "tart".

She made the unthinkable remark during the signature challenge.

The bakers were tasked with creating a citrus meringue pie and, because it was botanical week, they could add anything to it that grew.

Candice chose to make a lime, lemon and coconut pie decorated with fluorescent green swirls.

Paul took an instant dislike to it, saying: "It's a very wet meringue that, isn't it?"

But good old Mary was quick to praise it: "The curd itself is actually a very good flavour."

Candice showed her gratitude rather strangely: "Thank you... tart."

One exclaimed: "JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT WEARING LIPSTICK THIS WEEK DOESN'T MEAN YOU GET TO CALL MARY A TART CANDICE!"

While another commented in a rather sinister manner: "Calling national treasure Mary Berry a tart I'm expecting a bbc sniper anytime now."

A fan tweeted: "Calling Mary a tart is not helping your cause Candice!"

Tonight's episode also sadly saw Rav leave the competition after a dodgy attempt at the Showstopper challenge.
