Radio Disney deleted the tweet but the One Directioners were too fast for them and took a screenshot which quickly went viral.

If Niall does release his new solo track, he will be first out of the remaining One Directioners, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson to release his own music.

Fans were unable to control themselves as they discovered that Niall is now an official solo artist on Apple Music and Spotify.

Radio host Ryan Seacrest then sent fans into overdrive when he tweeted: "world premiere tomorrow that was rushed to me to give to u" with many convinced it's going to be Niall's debut solo single.

While his army of fans were ecstatic that they could be getting new music from Niall very soon, celebrities were also getting in on the excitement.

Perez Hilton tweeted: "Solo Niall is rising and I am earthquaking!!"

Naturally, the news sparked hundreds of hilarious memes and GIFs as One Directioners prep for the release which is expected at some point today.

Meanwhile, speaking on the Late Late Show with James Corden last night,  Treat You Better singer Shawn Mendes confirmed he is collaborating with Niall.

When quizzed about working with James's "favourite Irishman in the whole world", Shawn said: "Definitely, yeah 100%. I've been talking to him for a long time, when we get a second I want to write with him a bunch, for sure."

The Sun exclusively revealed earlier this month that Simon Cowell was shocked that Niall was launching his solo career with a rival label.

Niall ditched Simon's Syco label in favour of  signing with Capitol US, a part of rival Universal.

A source said: “Simon has made no secret of his expectations for Niall to stay loyal to him and has been desperately trying to keep him as a solo act with plans to turn him into a Justin Bieber style artist.

“They’ve worked together closely since day one and have always had a strong relationship, but Universal offered a lot of money.

“Simon’s likely to be so frustrated Niall has gone to a rival.”
