EMMERDALE star Natalie Robb has opened up about the difficulty of filming the moment she found the body of her onscreen daughter.

Speaking on This Morning, Natalie – who plays Moira Barton in the ITV soap – spoke emotionally of the powerful scenes which saw Holly, played by Sophie Powles, die following a drugs overdose.

Natalie said: “As a mother I was dreading

“That’s why I chose to play it without being too hysterical, it’s real life, it happens to people.”

The actresss also spoke of the effect that the scenes have had on the public, admitting she’s had people come up to her to speak about their experience.

Natalie explained: “A couple of months ago, we’d not shot the death of Holly yet, a woman came up to me and she had tears in her eyes.

“She gave me a hug and said ‘My son went through it for 21 years on and off and then he relapsed and they found him dead.’”

Natalie was joined on the show by the parents of Rachel Holcroft, who died from a heroin overdose in 2000.

The segment touched many viewers, who tweeted in their emotional messages.

Emmerdale viewers watched behind their tissues after the emotional scenes showing grief-stricken mum Moira’s raw emotion following the sudden death of her daughter, Holly.

Blonde Holly, who was dating recovering drug addict Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), passed away in a dramatic episode which saw her lying motionless in a bed after a sudden drug overdose.

The aftermath of the tragedy was played out tonight as Moria lay her heart on the line and confessed: “I’m so glad I told her I loved her before the wedding.”

“At least I will always have that.”

She then poured out her feelings to ex lover Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) before blasting him for believing their daughter deserved to die.

Her heartbreaking outburst sparked tears from soap addicts who were glued to their screens, before they then took to Twitter to reveal their sheer emotion and insist she patch things up and get back together with former lover Cain.

One wrote: "#Holly absolutely killing me!! Heartbreaking!!! The acting is fantastic," while another added: "Hits ya right in the feels #Crying #Emotional #I'mAMess."

One hugely teary fan wasn't sure how to react and added: "There are just no words," followed by a host of crying Emojis while one pleaded: "Aww come on @emmerdale 2 nights of tears is too much now!

"Brilliantly done though.

Another simply added: "Emmerdale got me in tears," followed by a crying Emoji while another bluntly posted: "Emmerdale got me," accompanied by a broken heart icon.
