Depeche Mode keyboardist Andy Fletcher’s cause of death revealed

DEPECHE Mode’s Andy Fletcher died from a tear to his main artery, the band said yesterday.

The keyboardist and dad of two, 60, passed away at home on May 26.

The band revealed on Instagram: “Andy suffered an aortic dissection.

“So, even though it was far too soon, he passed naturally and without prolonged suffering.”

They said it had been a “strange, sad, disorienting few weeks”, and that they had celebrated Andy’s life last week in London.

The band described it as a “filled with the great memories of who Andy was, stories of all of our times together and some good laughs”.

The statement added: “We’ve felt all your love and support and know Andy’s family has too.”

The statement was signed off by bandmates Martin Gore and Dave Gahan.

They formed the band that would become known as Depeche Mode in 1980.
