Who are Brooks Way? Axed X Factor 2016 finalists rumoured to be signing with Syco – all you need to know

Josh Brooks, 17, claims it was an accident after she stepped in to stop him fighting

BROOKS Way - originally called The Brooks - had their sights set on the prize as one of the twelve finalists of this year's X Factor.

Put through to the live finals by group mentor Louis Walsh, the duo failed to make it to the live shows following an investigation by The Sun on Sunday.

The pair were axed after it emerged that 17-year-old Josh allegedly booted his former girlfriend in the face and broke her nose.

However, it was revealed exclusively by the Sun Online that Josh and Kyle are in talks with Simon Cowell's record label Syco to release new music.

Who are Brooks Way?

Twin brothers Kyle and Josh are 17-years-old and came achingly close to the X Factor live finals once before.

Unfortunately for them, Louis Walsh felt the then fifteen-year-olds were not ready and booted them from his judges house, having them fall at the final hurdle.

But they came back bigger and better this year - and more determined than ever to make it through to the live shows.

Their hard work paid off and after the gruelling audition stages, the Welsh duo were announced as one of the lucky twelve acts, before being booted off this year's live shows before they started.

What is their background?

The boys come from a difficult background after being placed into their gran’s care at just 18 months as their parents battled heroin addiction.

Their dad Daniel Gibbs was later jailed in 2009 after becoming a "semi-professional thief" to fund his heroin habit.

When they auditioned back in 2014, they cited their nan as their greatest inspiration as they took to the stage.

Josh said: “We want to make Nan proud because she’s given up her life for us.”

HOW FAR DID THEY GET?

The Brooks will now be known as Brooks Way

When they returned to the show, Louis said: "Much, much better guys. I remember [at judges' houses in 2014] the vocal wasn't just enough and I was on the fence.

"I'm off the fence tonight, that was really, really good, I'm really glad you came back."

Nicole Scherzinger added: "I think you guys are so adorable and you've actually got something to work with.”

Simon Cowell was more critical, commenting: "I'm not going to lie... you've still got a lot of work to do, you've got to develop your own sound, sometimes less is more.”

Through the rest of the rounds, the pair have more than proven their worth, and proved second time was the charm as they got put through to the live shows.

What happened to Brooks Way?

Viewers saw Dermot O’Leary explain the boys’ absence during the first live show, saying: “Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, Brooks Way will not be performing tonight.”

Earlier an X Factor spokesman said: “Due to the serious nature of the information which has come to light concerning one of Brooks Way, the group will not be performing in Saturday night’s show pending further inquiries.”

We revealed last week how Josh, from Penarth, South Wales, was arrested on New Year’s Eve for allegedly assaulting Amelia, and later released without charge
