Who is Karthik Nagesan? Evicted Celebrity Big Brother 2017 housemate and former Apprentice contestant

KARTHIK Nagesan came to our attention as a brash businessman competing for Alan Sugar's attention (and his money) on BBC series The Apprentice.

But first he failed to win over Lord Sugar and now the public have also turned on the entrepreneur, after he was evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house. Here's his story...

Who is Karthik Nagesan and what happened to him on The Apprentice?

Karthik Negesan is a 34-year-old businessman and IT consultant who went on The Apprentice in 2016.

He was adored by viewers for his bushy monobrow and cocky attitude, despite not doing well on the show - once earning £188 for his team to the rival team's £40k.

At the time Karthik said he'd "make a good Prime Minister" and vowed never to pluck his eyebrow.

He said: "I've got a nice big monobrow, for the last ten years people have been telling me, pluck it out, be like everyone else.

"But Karthik - or the Big K - is not someone who is like everybody else, everybody else wants to be like Karthik.

"I am competitive as a leader, I believe in being an emperor not a tyrant, so when I enter a certain social scene I immediately take up the leadership role whether or not the crown is placed on my head."

Despite his big talk, Karthik did not last on the show and he was fired after seven weeks, before Alana Spencer won.

Since The Apprentice Karthik has featured as a guest on Big Brother's Bit On The Side.

How did Karthik end up on Celebrity Big Brother?

Karthik was drafted in at the last minute before tonight's CBB launch.

That's because Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Dawn Ward sensationally pulled out.

A Channel 5 source said at the time: “Dawn may have done reality TV in the past but she got cold feet about doing CBB."

They added of Karthik: “He’s a real character and will really shake things up.

“He says what he thinks and will be a real asset to the house.”

When is Celebrity Big Brother 2017 on Channel 5 and who is presenting?

Celebrity Big Brother started on August 1 2017 with a two hour launch presented by Emma Willis.

The main show generally airs each night at 9pm, lasting for an hour, with spin-off show CBB’s Bit on the Side at 11.05pm, hosted by Rylan Clark-Neal.

The Saturday show is on a little later, kicking off at 10pm and there is no BBOTS at the weekend.

Celebrity Big Brother typically lasts around four weeks, with January’s series won by Coleen Nolan the joint longest in the show’s history, lasting 32 days.

Where is the Celebrity Big Brother house and has it moved for 2017?

The current setting for both Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother is a large compound in Borehamwood, nestled right next to where the original Star Wars was filmed.

The site is just a 22 minute train journey from London Kings Cross Station.

This year's makeover is designed to look like a "top celeb retreat".

Housemates can enjoy a large salon-style bathroom, pastel-coloured interiors, an array of plants and two jacuzzis.
