THE X Factor star Honey G has been accused of dropping her posh accent and "dumbing herself down" to assume the persona of a tough, urban rapper for the show.
She has been exposed as a middleclass recruitment manager with a passion for tennis, and now we can reveal she gave herself a "complete personality transplant" as part of her reinvention.
The Sun Online can exclusively reveal that Honey G, whose real name is Anna Gilford, 35, is "very well spoken" and "smart", and "comes from a decent background".
Stephanie Jones attended Salford University with Anna, and she has revealed her former uni mate is actually very different to the persona she 'created' for TV.
She told us: "The kind of person she was was very very switched on. There was none of this urban street persona - she was... a smart student...
"Super cool, the kind of persona she's putting on on The X Factor is very dumbed down...
"She's very smart - it's like she's had a complete personality transplant... Anna is nothing like this character..."
Stephanie goes on to reveal Anna has even ditched her posh accent as part of the Honey G makeover.
She added: "She is actually really well spoken. She's from a really decent background - she didn't speak like that before..."
The Salford graduate goes on to declare the former DJ must be pulling a prank on X Factor bosses, but fears she may not be able to keep up the pretence much longer.
She explained: "It's all an act... I think it's just a joke and maybe it's got out of hand and she's got through first and second rounds...
"She won't be able to keep up this up for much longer - she can't go on this long...
"This a complete sham."
It comes shortly after we revealed that Honey G looks completely different in her profile on networking website LinkedIn.
She is revealed to be an educated professional with 10 years experience working in IT before setting up her own recruitment consultancy.
She also boasts a master's degree from top university UCL, and lists her interests as tennis, skiing and current affairs.
