Mind-blowing fan theory explains the ‘true identity’ of Andy’s mum in the Toy Story films
The key to solving the mystery is in Andy's cowboy hat
A PIXAR fan claims to have figured out the real identity of Andy's mum in Toy Story.
Jon Negroni, who runs a , believes the clever folks behind the Disney-Pixar franchise have hidden the secret in plain sight — on Andy's head.
The eagle-eyed movie buff points out that Andy's cowboy hat is different from his doll Woody's.
In fact, it looks a lot more like someone else's hat — cowgirl doll Jessie's.
Both are the same colour, with white twine around the edges.
While Jessie's hat has a white band around the middle, Andy's hat has a faded mark — perhaps where a band used to be.
The fan's theory? That Andy's mum is Jessie's original owner, Emily.
Flashback scenes show Emily giving up Jessie when she outgrew her, leaving her in a donation box on the side of the road.
We also see a hat lying on Emily's bed — and it looks just like Andy's hat, but with a white band.
And there's more: Jon points out that Emily's bedroom contains a record player, and decor that suggests she grew up in the Sixties and Seventies.
That would make her old enough to be Andy's mum by the time present-day Toy Story took place.

The fan believes Emily grew up and passed her cowboy hat on to her son — Andy.
Perhaps the answer will be confirmed in Toy Story 4, which is slated for summer 2018.
Until then, what do you believe?
