Rod Stewart is joined by wife Penny Lancaster and their children as he heads to Buckingham Palace for Knighthood ceremony
Rocker gets the Royal nod
ROD Steward has been knighted in honour of his services to music and charity.
The 71-year-old was named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in June, and today was seen arriving at Buckingham Palace with wife Penny Lancaster and two of their sons for the ceremony.
Wearing a smart dark suit jacket with tartan trousers that hinted at his proud Scottish heritage, Rod posed up for a picture outside the regal building before heading inside for the big event.
Once inside, Rod was called up to meet Prince William, who instructed him to kneel down.
He then tapped him on the shoulder with a ceremonial sword, marking a new era where he will be able to call himself Sir Roderick David Stewart.
Dressed in a dark suit, the veteran rocker was flanked by his glamorous wife - who beamed with pride.
Rod previously spoke about the honour, calling it a "monumental honour".
He said: "I've led a wonderful life and have had a tremendous career thanks to the generous support of the great British public.
"This monumental honour has topped it off and I couldn't ask for anything more. I thank Her Majesty and promise to 'wear it well'."
