HOLLY Willoughby and Phillip Schofield begged a distraught caller to cancel her upcoming wedding to a man she said was abusive to her.

The woman, known as Marie, phoned into the show to share her worries with Holly, Phil and The Sun's agony aunt Deidre Sanders during her advice segment.

But Phillip was left telling her "you cannot marry this man" when Marie admitted that her fiance had hit her before.

Marie broke down in tears during her call, and revealed that she was planning to marry her fiance next spring but was having doubts.

Explaining that over the past few months his behaviour had "changed" towards her, she said: "He's been working later, has put a password on his computer and his phone and doesn't take my calls."

When asked if he had confronted him, she revealed that was when he had hit her - after 'blowing up' on her after she approached the subject.

Marie also revealed that he had started buying a woman at work flowers and she suspected he was having an affair.

Deidre echoed Philip's sentiment and added: "This is no way to head towards marriage. Tell him it doesn't help you getting angry."

Deidre then offered to coach Marie off-camera with her issues.

Viewers of the show praised the trio for their frank and heartfelt approach to Marie's problems.
