Nicole Kidman struggles to control her gothic gown as she arrives at windy London premiere of new movie Lion

LEGGY Nicole Kidman risked a wardrobe malfunction at the London premiere of her new film thanks to a gust of wind.

The Australian actress was in the capital to promote her new movie, Lion, at the London Film Festival on Wednesday night, and looked stunning in a black gothic style gown.

The dress, from the Armani Prive Fall 2016 Couture collection, featured cut out detailing down the 49-year-old's cleavage and naval, as well as a split right up the front to the top of her thighs.

But as she walked onto the red carpet, the blustery autumn conditions caused the skirt to flap open, and Nicole almost flash more than she intended to the crowds waiting to see her.

Ever the pro, Nicole battled to maintain her modesty, clutching the sides of her velvet skirt as she walked along, before pulling them back into place as she posed alongside her co-star, British actor Dev Patel.

While Nicole looked a little embarrassed by her slight wardrobe malfunction, she need not have worried, as her legs looked stunning as she strode along and posed with her leading man.

Once her outfit was under control, Nicole beamed for the cameras, showing off her flawless makeup, which included a slick of red lipstick and winged eyeliner.

Meanwhile Dev, 26, looked dapper in a dark blue three-piece suit, which he teamed with a white shirt and tie.

With his hair long around his ears and a full moustache and beard, the actor looked a world away from the fresh faced star who first rose to fame in television series Skins before making his big screen debut in Slumdog Millionaire in 2008.

Despite the age gap between the two stars, they looked delighted to be back in each other's company at the premiere, as they linked arms and grinned at each other as well as the waiting paparazzi.

Lion has already been touted for Oscar glory next year, with Dev playing an Indian-Australian adopted man who uses Google Earth to track down his birth mother.

His journey leads him to Calcutta, and Nicole plays his adopted mother.
