Later the conversation turned slightly more serious, with Robbie telling Gaby how his wife of six years, Ayda, had filled "a god-shaped hole" in his life.

The singer spoke of his past struggles with addiction and depression, explaining that "the answer was given to me that it was a spiritual malady, so that I would go off trying to search for God.

"It's only in retrospect [I've noticed that] being in the relationship with my wife, that search has stopped."

Robbie recently announced the upcoming release of his first album in three years, Heavy Entertainment Show.

The record, which will be released November 4, features collaborations with Ed Sheeran and The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers.
