Perrie Edwards confirms Zayn Malik ended two-year engagement by text message in leaked passage of Little Mix book
The Little Mix singer reveals emotional details about the split
PERRIE Edwards has confirmed that Zayn Malik did end their relationship via text message.
The Little Mix singer described the break up as the ‘worst time’ of her life as she opened up it for the first time in her band’s eye-opening new book Our World.
In a leaked passage from the book, which has been posted online by a Little Mix fan site, she writes: “It was horrible, the worst time in my life. A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that.
“Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.”
Former One Direction singer Zayn had previously denied claims that he ended things so abruptly.
In an interview with Fade magazine, he said: “If you could word it exactly this way, I’d be very appreciative. I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message.
“I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that.
“She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well. I don’t want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”
The leaked passage follows the band’s appearance on The X Factor – where they performed their new track Shout Out To My Ex.
In the explosive girl power anthem Shout Out to My Ex, Perrie appears to claim she faked orgasms in bed with Zayn – and admits she is unsure whether she ever really loved him at all.
Referring to Zayn’s new model girlfriend Gigi Hadid on the new track, the Geordie sings: “I hope she gettin’ better sex, Hope she ain’t fakin’ it like I did, babe.”
At another point, Perrie mocks the inking of her face which Zayn had on his bicep, which he has since covered up with another tattoo.
The lyrics continue: “Guess I should say thank you, For the ‘hate yous’ and the tattoos, Oh baby I’m cool by the way, Ain’t sure I loved you anyway.”
And this morning the star – who is currently dating Luke Pasqualino – confirmed the track was indeed about Zayn.
When quizzed by Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1, she said: “The song speaks for itself.”
