Cheryl will keep her £20million fortune but Jean-Bernard could claim cash in the next 25 years
CHERYL will keep her £20million pound fortune and her now ex-husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini will walk away with nothing from the marraige.
Her separation from the Frenchman has become 'Britain's fastest ever quickie' divorce after the union was dismissed in just 14 seconds.
The pop star was given the green light to end her 18-month marriage today at a court in London, and hearing lasted less than a minute.
It's now also been revealed that the pair have already agreed the terms of the separation, with Cheryl keeping all of her estimated £20million fortune.
The pair did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement before they wed in 2014 and there was no payment order in the divorce papers.
But a ruling in June means Jean-Bernard has at least 25 years to change his mind and press for a share.
A High Court family judge awarded Kathleen Wyatt £300,000 following her separation in 1991 from Ecotricty boss Dale Vince.
However last night a source insisted of JB: “All he wanted was to have a good marriage.
“He is an only child and has no one now both his parents are dead.
“That’s why he was so keen to start a family with Cheryl.
“He doesn’t want any money from her because he married her for love.
“He agreed to the divorce so he can get on with his life — but he doesn’t agree with the reasons for it.”
Cheryl, 33, and JB were granted their Decree Nisi this morning, and reports suggest the case's 14-second airing at London's Central Family Court makes it the UK's speediest dismissal.
The former couple were so keen to make their split official, they announced the news an hour before the decree was granted by the court.
A statement issued by the singe's representative declared: "Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini have today obtained Decree Nisi in their divorce proceedings.
"No further comment will be made and they ask for their privacy to be respected."
During the brief hearing, District Judge Heather MacGregor asked: "Does any party or person wish to show cause against the decrees?"
She then dismissed the former couple's 18-month marriage by telling the court: "'I pronounce these decrees and make orders in accordance with the registrar's decision,"
The former couple will have to wait six weeks for the Decree Absolute, which will mark the legal end of the marriage.
Neither Cheryl or JB attended the brief hearing today, but the singer is believed to be relieved that the ordeal is now over.
