Plucky interviewer refused to back down despite the pop star's lengthy silences
LADY Gaga baffled BBC Breakfast viewers this morning as she tried to avoid to talk politics with Charlie Stayt in an excruciatingly awkward interview.
The pop star declared she had "nothing to say" after Charlie asked for opinion on US presidential candidate Donald Trump, and the chat went downhill from there.
The interview turned sour when Charlie began asking Gaga about politics, and hsi question about controversial Republican Donald Trump appeared to rile her.
When asked about Trump, she said: "I have nothing to say of him..."
However, Charlie was not put off and continued to press the singer for her opinion, saying: "I'm intrigued that you literally won't say anything about him...
"You have endorsed Hillary Clinton... What do you think that she will do that he will not?"
Gaga then gave a long sigh and went silent, leaving Charlie waiting for her answer.
She gave another mournful sigh after several painful seconds, and eventually gave an answer that was peppered with further bouts of silence.
The pop star said: "Some people want to win... races other people want to be president of the United States... It's about the intention.
"I believe the truth will reveal itself... people are smart."
Charlie then wrapped up the interview and said goodbye.
When the screen cut back to host Naga Munchetty in the studio, the BBC Breakfast anchor praised her colleague for sticking to his guns.
She said: "Charlie did well to wait for that answer..."
The interview left viewers baffled, and many took to Twitter to express their thoughts.
One tweeted: "Is she for real?" and another added: "Lady Gaga is so odd. An extraordinarily deluded & self absorbed individual. #bbcbreakfast @bbc."
