Security stepped up at Coronation Street set as cast begin filming Toyah Battersby’s dramatic comeback 13 years after she left the soap
SECURITY has been stepped up at the Coronation Street set as the cast have started filming Toyah Battersby's dramatic comeback.
Actress Georgia Taylor left the show 13 years ago, and producers are going to great lengths to keep details of her return under wraps.
Filming moved from the Cobbles to a hotel in Manchester today, and crewmembers weren't taking any chances about giving away any clues.
A mystery woman believed to be Georgia was smuggled in under the watch of a security guard, who shielded her face from the cameras.
The move left onlookers none the wiser about the identity of the figure, who crouched down and turned away from waiting snappers.
The woman also wrapped a scarf around her head in a bid to keep her face hidden.
Toyah sensationally left Wetherfield after her college lecturer boyfriend got her best friend Maria pregnant.
She has been mentioned regularly by her sister Leanne but this will be her first time back on our screens in over a decade.
Georgia previously said of her return to the ITV soap: “I am thrilled to be re-joining my old friends on the cobbles and hugely excited to be given the opportunity to explore the character of Toyah 13 years on.
Coronation Street has always had a place in my heart and I’m delighted to be working again with my good friend Jane Danson and bringing the Battersby sisters back together."
Her return is part of a major shake-up by producers which will bring a number of famous faces back to the Cobbles.
