Tom Hanks remembers all the words to the rap from his 1988 movie Big
The actor was asked to rap by vloggers during his promotional tour for his new film Inferno
IT WAS the movie that shot him into Hollywood fame so it’s hardly surprising that Tom Hanks has never forgotten the words to his rap from Big.
And yesterday the actor proved it as he was asked by two YouTube vloggers to recreate the rap with them – and he recited it perfectly.
The 60-year-old actor was being interviewed by Wesley Chan and Philip Wang for Wong Fu Productions along with Inferno director Ron Howard, as they promoted the movie in Italy.
After their chat, the vloggers asked Tom if he would rap the tune from Big with them and he duly obliged.
Howard looked impressed and bopped about in the background as the actor rapped perfectly.
Tom then revealed that he had actually stolen the song from his child’s summer camp and said: “We needed a thing in the movie and I said, ‘how about if we just do this little thing, what would you do?’ So I did it and we banged it out.”
Chan and Wang looked beside themselves with excitement at what had just happened and as they posted the video to their page, they wrote: “We went to Florence, Italy earlier this month to meet our boss, Ron Howard, and rap with Tom Hanks!
“Seriously though, these two are living legends and it was an honor to meet them in person and encouraging to see how humble and kind they were. We really have not been this nervous in years.
Thank you Tom and Ron for all you've given us over the years. Congrats on #InfernoMovie!”

Big was released in 1988 and told the story of twelve-year-old Josh Baskin wishing on an antique fortune teller machine to be “big” after being told he is too short for a ride.
He then wakes up the next day as a 30-year-old man, played by Hanks, and ends up working for a toy company in New York while he and his friend Billy try and track down the machine to turn him back.
It was nominated for two Oscars for Best Actor for Hanks and Best Writing and Original Screenplay.
CAN YOU REMEMBER THE LYRICS?
The space goes down down baby, down down the roller coaster
Sweet sweet baby
Sweet sweet don’t let me go
Shimmy, shimmy cocoa pop
Shimmy, shimmy rock!
Shimmy, shimmy cocoa pop
Shimmy, shimmy rock!
I met a girlfriend a triscuit!
She said, a triscuit a biscuit!
Ice cream, soda pop, vanilla on the top!
Ooh, Shalida, walking down the street
Ten times a week!
I read it! I said it!
I stole my momma's credit!
I'm cool! I'm hot!
Sock me in the stomach three more times!
