What’s on TV tonight? Shows to watch on Saturday 29 October – including Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor
What can't you miss on TV tonight? Our guide to the must-see shows...
LIVE! Strictly Come Dancing, 6.45pm, BBC One
It’s usually a racing cert that someone will come up with a truly nightmarish routine for Strictly’s Halloween special (who can forget the time Nancy Dell’Olio sprung from that coffin in 2011?).
But this year the standard has been so high that even the anticipated horrors of Ed Balls and Judge Robert Rinder have failed to shock us.
We’re starting to think that the best bet for some ghoulish fun may be to look to the judges.
Bruno Tonioli flails like a demented vampire bat at the best of times, Craig’s killer put-downs are enough to slay the undead, Darcey’s presence is as ethereal as any ghost, and Len’s still got that look for audience members who prematurely boo his comments that could easily send you to an early grave.
LIVE! The X Factor, 8pm, ITV
Could anybody have predicted just what a year this would be for X Factor?
From Honey G’s explosion on to the UK rap scene to Brooks Way’s controversy and Freddy Parker’s untimely exit, not a week has passed without shock.
What will this weekend bring? Will anyone be on the receiving end of Nicole’s angry pen-throwing? And will Sharon remember the names of her acts?
NEW! How To Build A Human, 9pm, Channel 4
In an experiment that has never been attempted on television before, experts build an artificial-intelligence version of actress Gemma Chan (star of the returning drama Humans).
The aim is to convince people that the android is, in fact, Gemma, but will a group of unwitting journalists suspect their interviewee isn’t the real thing?
NEW! Michael Moore In Trumpland, 11pm, Channel 4
Controversial film-maker Michael Moore travels to ‘Trumpland’ (aka Ohio) in order to bait Trump supporters in his stand-up show, in the run-up to the most contentious presidential election in modern history.
He’s on a mission to “make America sane again”, but we’re just surprised Moore made it out of the state unscathed!
